Olde Car Club sets annual show at park

BOARDMAN

The Mahoning Valley Olde Car Club will have its annual car show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 1 at Boardman Park.

It will feature antique cars, modified and street rods, food, a drawing, Chinese Auction and music provided by Two’s Company.

The event also will include a Pinewood Derby race for children age 5 to 17 with prizes and trophies. To enter a car or register for the derby race, go to MVOCC.com. Registration also can be done at the event.

The car show raises funds for local children with medical needs. This year’s recipient will be Brett Wilcox.

Ursuline Center event has vendor space

CANFIELD

Vendor space is available for the Car Trunk and Treasure Sale on Aug. 14 at the Ursuline Center on Shields Road.

Sellers can rent parking spaces for $20 each.

There also will be a book, food and furniture sale inside the center.

Proceeds will help fund the ministries of the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown.

Traditional music at Saxon Club

AUSTINTOWN

Siebenburger Blasmusik of Munderfing, Austria, will perform German traditional music and dance at 7 p.m. Monday at The Youngstown Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road.

Admission is $8.

The doors open at 6 p.m.

Refreshments will be available.

Bus trip to hear filmmaker Burns

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown Jewish Community Center will sponsor a bus trip to the Chautauqua Institution in Cleveland on Aug. 9.

Documentary filmmaker Ken Burns will give a morning lecture on architecture that day, with an emphasis on the work of Frank Lloyd Wright.

Burns has made some of the most acclaimed historical documentaries including “The Civil War,” “Baseball” and “Jazz.” His most recent series is “The National Parks: America’s Best Idea.”

The bus will leave from the JCC on Gypsy Lane at 11 a.m. and return at 8 p.m.

Cost is $75.
