Toddler taken to hospital after bitten by neighbor's dog

YOUNGSTOWN — A toddler was taken to the hospital after he was attacked by a neighbor’s dog.

The 2-year-old boy, whose name wasn’t been released by police, was bitten several times at about 8 p.m. tonight, according to city police.

The child was outside his Detroit Avenue home on the city’s South Side and went next door to see the dog, a cocker spaniel-labrador mix, police said.

The dog, which was on a leash, bit the child, causing face and head injuries, according to reports.

He was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital in Boardman. His condition was unknown late tonight.

No one has been charged in the incident, police said.
