YOUNGSTOWN

At least one man suspected in the Thursday shooting of a man who later died has turned himself in, police reported.

A Mahoning Valley Violent Crimes Task Force officer placed Albert E. Whitted III, 23, of East Boston Avenue under arrest Friday in the death of Marlon Chatman, 28, who was shot twice in the leg at 360 W. Chalmers Ave. at 3:41 p.m. Thursday.

Chatman was shot after he let two men into the house, and went upstairs with one, a witness told police.

The second man held a gun on the witness downstairs in the living room, a police report says.

Television news reports said a second man turned himself in over the shooting, but police could not confirm that.

Whitted is charged with aggravated murder. He was taken to the Mahoning County jail, and will appear at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Youngstown Municipal Court.
