Mr. and Mrs. Bennett to mark 50th during family vacation

SALEM

Mr. and Mrs. Larry J. Bennett of Salem will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary during a weeklong vacation with their family at Chautauqua Lake in New York.

Their family includes Lisa and Chris Toy of Greenford and Steven and Amy Bennett of Westerville, and three grandchildren.

The former Kathryn Groves and Mr. Bennett were united in marriage June 18, 1960, in Salem First United Methodist Church, where they are members.

Mrs. Bennett taught at United High School in Hanoverton and retired in 1992 as the women’s editor with Farm and Dairy newspaper in Salem. She serves on the board of directors for Canfield Fair and as a trustee on the board of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County.

Mr. Bennett was the owner-operator of Bennett’s Greenhouse in Greenford prior to retiring in 2004. He served with the U.S. Navy and is a member of Greenford Ruritan.
