Monskes mark anniversary with family, friends

Mr. and Mrs. Robert N. Monske celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 30 at the Holiday Inn, Boardman, with family and friends.

Former residents of Youngstown, Mr. Monske and the former Priscilla M. Fabry were united in marriage at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on April 30, 1960, in Youngstown.

Hosting the event were their children, Linda Osborne of Fort Worth, Texas; Lisa (James) Codner of Youngstown; and Robert J. (Paula) Monske of Struthers.

The couple’s five grandchildren are Heidi Hall of Jacksonville, Fla.; Linley (Ryan) Johnson of Fort Worth; Benjamin Osborne of Fort Campbell, Ky.; and Christopher and Mikayla Monske of Struthers. Toby and Regan Johnson of Fort Worth are the great-grandchildren.

The Monskes have been very active members of Jerusalem Lutheran Church for 40 years, serving in many capacities.

Mr. Monske served with the Ohio National Guard and retired from Ameritech after 25 years of service.

Mrs. Monske attended Youngstown State University and retired from Youngstown Hearing and Speech Center of Youngstown in 2002. She served as a sign language interpreter for the deaf community and taught American Sign Language classes throughout Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties.
