Brashens mark 60th anniversary at family event

John and Mary Brashen of Hubbard celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at a family dinner for invited guests at 6 p.m. May 22 at the Upstairs Restaurant in Austintown.

The couple’s children are J. Randy (Joanne) Brashen and Paula (John) Jakubek, all of Canfield, and Charles Brashen of Hubbard.

The couple have three grandchildren: Joy and John Jay Jakubek and Jill (Max) Hammond, and two great-grandchildren, Dodge and Zoe Hammond.

Mr. Brashen and the former Mary Faber were married May 20, 1950, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Farrell, Pa. They are members of Grace Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Brashen retired as an LPN from Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren, in 1991. She is a hospice volunteer and an active beekeeper in Trumbull County.

Mr. Brashen retired as a machinist from Westinghouse Electric, Sharon, in 1985. He belongs to the men’s club of the church, and he is a Marine Corps veteran.
