A man killed by a car near his Springfield Township home was a longtime businessman who lived life to the fullest, said family and friends.

David Muslovski, 55, of Unity Road was walking east on the westbound side of Middletown Road about 5:40 a.m. Thursday when he was struck. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where he died. Muslovski, the owner of Iron City Wood Products on Wilson Avenue in Campbell, was taking a morning walk, something he did every day, said employee Betty Kotch.

Muslovski, who’d lost 160 pounds, was into getting his exercise, she said.

He was less than a mile away from his house when the accident happened, said his daughter, Tina Yanssens.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the accident is under investigation, but alcohol and speed are not factors. Police could not provide the name of the driver.

Yanssens and her husband, D.J., were preparing to take over the company from Muslovski, and he was staying on to teach them, his assistant and secretary, Debbie White, said Friday. His wife, Denise, also worked at the company.

“He was a very good boss and friend,” White said. “It’s just very hard.”

White said Muslovski started his business 22 years ago with one truck.

The company, which deals in new and recycled pallets, now has 60 employees, says its website.

Muslovski’s business had been his life, said Yanssens, adding that he was the hardest-working person she knew.

But he was looking forward to retiring, she said, and spending time with his seven grandchildren.

He was supposed to be taking several of them on a trip to Disney World in Florida — they would have left Friday, she said.

She said he had visited his 95-year-old father, Stanley, who lives in a nursing home, on Wednesday.

“He wished my grandfather a happy Father’s Day, so he did get that in,” she said.

Yanssens called her father a “larger-than-life hero” who touched everyone’s life.

He was an avid boater and collected antique cars, including a prized 1957 Chevrolet Nomad, she said.

“Dave was the greatest,” said White.
