Thunder rumbles to Sharon Speedway

Sharon Speedway’s fourth night of Friday Night Thunder will feature Mod Lites, Sportsman, Micro Sprints, 2 bbl E-mods and Hobby Stocks tonight at the Trumbull County track.

Josh Walker of Warren has won three straight in Sportsman. Bill Sanger of Conneaut has won two of three Micro Sprint events, finishing fourth on June 4, and Mod Lite driver Alan Knepper of Somerset, Pa., has captured the checkered flag in the past two consecutive Friday Night Thunder races.

Gates will open at 5 p.m. with racing to start at 7. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for teens and children 8 and under are free.

On Saturday, there will be a $1,000-to-win Tri-State Modified feature. The Father’s Day celebration also will include the 410 Sprints, Pro Stocks, Limited Sprints and Hobby Stocks.

Tickets for the Saturday races cost $13 for adults ages 14 and older and $5 for teens from ages 9 to 13. Children 8 and younger are admitted free. Family passes, for two adults and up to four students, are available for $32.

Fans who present a ticket from Friday’s event will receive $3 off general admission on Saturday.

The BRP Modified Tour will make its only appearance of the season on Saturday night.

Also racing will be the Sprint Cars, Stock Cars, and the Mini Stocks. Race time is 7 p.m.

Pit gates open at 3:30 p.m. with grandstands at 4:30. Hot laps begin at 6:15. Adults are $15, students 6-15 $7, and kids five and under are free. The Family Pass is $35. Pit passes are $30.
