Gov. Ted Strickland plans to sign a bill that would eliminate certain taxes for advanced energy projects in Ohio.

Strickland’s office says he planned to sign the bill into law on Thursday night. It eliminates what he calls “burdensome” tangible personal-property tax and real-property tax on generation for certain energy projects.

Under the bill, companies would get the break if they create Ohio jobs, begin construction before 2012 and produce energy by 2013 or 2017, depending on the type of energy.

The sate says the companies are able to make annual payments instead of taxes, thereby reducing the tax rates.
