Squeeze play nets Sugar a victory

In a 2-1 thriller against Roth Brothers, Dave Sugar Construction (9-2) won on a bases-loaded squeeze play in the bottom of the seventh in Class “B” League action on Thursday at Cene Park.
Jordan Izzo doubled, then moved to third on a single. Dane Gecina was intentionally walked to load the bases before pinch-hitter Nick Benson laid down a perfect bunt on the squeeze play.
Wharmby 4, OTN Performance 1
Wharmby (6-5) went over .500 for the first time.
In the third, David Saluga’s two-out single scored the first run and Tyler Gentile’s double knocked in two more runs in the fifth for a 4-0 lead.
For OTN, Brent Messett scored on Cameron Christopher’s double.
1080 Media 12, Livi Steel 1
Paul Indrihovic (3-0) had a two-hitter in five innings.
Chris Zadroski went 3-for-3, while Jim Coates and Mick Mansur had a pair of singles. Livi’s Dante Delbane had a hit and Steve Wilaj had a hit and an RBI.
1080 Media 1, Rondinelli 0
On Wednesday, B’s top team — 1080 Media — won over Rondinelli in the bottom of the 10th when Jay Rowland was came home on Dan Popio’s bases-loaded walk.
James Coates had a double and single for 1080, whose pitchers, Dillion Haviland and Anthony Raschilla, got the job done.
Haviland struck out 17 and gave up four hits over 8 1/3 innings, while Raschilla pitched the final 12/3 to pick up his first win in his first game of the season. Rondinelli’s Kyder Lane allowed five hits over seven innings before Mac Thurbur relinquished another two hits.
For Rondinelli, Ed Reese had two hits, including a lead-off double in the top of the 10th.
Livi Steel 7, Roth Bros. 3
In the third, Bill Emrick’s double scored Alex Cuckovich after Cuckovich’s single scored Andrew Burdick.
Cuckovich had three hits and Burdick a pair.
For Roth, Anthony O’Nesti went 3-for-3, while Nick Reinthaler and Jake Haubric each had two hits.
Wharmby Sports 5, Action 2
Josh Saverko went the distance for his first win for Wharmby.
Wharmby banged out 12 hits, led by Jason Burkes. Dom DeFelice, Nick Balsley and Chris Miller also had two hits apiece for the winners, while Action’s Mike Riffe had two hits and an RBI.
Sugar 9, Express 4
A 13-hit attack spurred Sugar, which got a triple from Alex Miklos.
Jordan Izzo, Dane Gecina, John Korpon and Cody Herald had two hits and Randall Risch gave up three over five innings in his first game.
For Express, Joe Markovitch’s RBI single scored Mark Calautti, whose hit enabled David DiBernardi to score. Also, Tim Calhoun’s single pushed across Calautti.
Astro Falcons 4, OTN 3
Kolin Stanley’s four-hitter included 13 strikeouts and Gerrald Rohan had a hit and RBIn.
For OTN, Nate Fader had a triple that drove in Anthony Lucas who had reached on a walk to lead off the sixth.
