Students of all ages played together for an end-of-school-year picnic at Mill Creek Park.

St. Joseph and Immaculate Heart of Mary School held its annual Fun Day June 3 at the Wick Recreation Center. The school has been hosting its fun day for more than 10 years for the school’s kindergarten though eighth grade.

Lunch was provided by the school’s Home and School Association who also helped look after the students as they played. Each grade was given a specified color T-shirt to wear that listed the event’s name and current year.

Third-grader Tommy Leskavac said there should be more days like the fun day event. He spent the majority of his time building volcanos out of sand.

“We didn’t have to do any work at school,” he said. “This was awesome.”

Students were given the option of playing volleyball, tennis, kickball, frisbee or catch. Many students played on the park’s jungle gym or in the sand pit. The event lasted from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
