Ohio State seeks to boost room and board by 5.5 percent

COLUMBUS (AP) — Ohio State University is moving toward charging resident students an additional $465 for room and board in the next school year.

The 5.5 percent increase will be voted on today by the university’s board of trustees. It won the approval of the trustees’ fiscal affairs committee Thursday.

On average, students would pay $8,874 for a room plus the basic meal plan, up from the current $8,409.

OSU officials say the extra money will be used for student housing expansion and renovation projects.
