Man shot in leg dies in hospital

youngstown

A man shot in the leg Thursday afternoon has become the city’s latest homicide victim.

The identity of the 28-year-old man hasn’t been released, pending notification of family.

Police were called about 4:30 p.m. to a house in the 300 block of West Chalmers Avenue for a shooting.

They found the victim in an upstairs bedroom with two gunshot wounds to the leg and a cut under his eye. The man, who didn’t live at the West Chalmers home, told police that he didn’t know who shot him.

He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where he later died.

Another man at the house told police that he let two men into the house, and one held him at gunpoint. After both intruders went upstairs, the man heard gunshots, he told police.

Death ruled accidental

WASHINGTON, Pa.

A coroner’s jury has ruled that the death of a western Pennsylvania man days after police subdued him with a stun gun was accidental.

The Washington County jurors ruled the death of 49-year-old Ronald Petruney was accidental due to the November confrontation with police, along with a seizure disorder and an underlying heart condition. A forensic pathologist determined the cause of death was cardiac arrest due to a seizure disorder.
