Car and truck horns echoed throughout Boardman Park June 5 as kids inspected vehicles they normally aren’t allowed to touch.

The park hosted its annual Touch-A-Truck event June 5 in Masters Parking lot. This is the eighth year the event has taken place. More than 10 different vehicles were displayed for children to see, touch and inquire about.

Kids were allowed to honk the horns, open and close the doors, turn on the lights and sit in the driver’s seat. A fire truck, ambulance, tow truck, cable truck, state highway patrol car and limousine were some of the vehicles present.

The yellow school bus was a favorite for kids who aren’t in school yet. They were fascinated by the way its doors opened and closed and the kids said they couldn’t wait until they could ride in it.

Boardman’s Marshall Hartman said he liked all of the vehicles, but his favorites were the ones that made the most noise.

“I liked to push the horns,” he said.
