8-year-old dies trying to save his brother in NYC fire

NEW YORK (AP) — Neighbors and relatives say an 8-year-old New York City boy ran back into his burning apartment to save his little brother but died along with him in the thick smoke and flames.

The witnesses say Tyanthony Duckette had escaped Thursday morning's fire at the Queens duplex with his grandmother and older sister. But when he realized his 17-month-old brother, Daniel Wilson, was still inside, he ran back into the house.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire officials said today they are considering whether a light fixture came in contact with combustible material.
