A 7-year-old boy was attacked by a large dog, Campbell police reported.
The child, Marcus Dorsey of Blackburn Street, was attacked by the Great Dane at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, the report says.
Akron Children’s Hospital in Boardman called police to tell them about the attack. The child was taken there with multiple lacerations and a possible broken arm, leg and foot, the hospital told police.
The dog belongs to neighbors who live at 124 Blackburn St., the report says.
When police arrived to investigate, a man in the driveway at 124 Blackburn, Ernest Rayford, told them the dog was his.
Rayford said he put the dog in his garage and that he did not know how it got loose.
Police said the home-owner at 124 Blackburn, Cordie Paige, told them her grandson saw three boys throwing crab apples at the dog. She also said she did not know how the dog got loose.
No one at the address saw the attack.
Police said the dog warden arrived, and Paige produced a 2008 dog license, and police said the dog had an up-to-date rabies vaccination.
Paige was told to keep the dog in the garage.
