Veon prosecutors seek prison term of 12-17 years

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Prosecutors are asking for a 12- to 17-year prison sentence for former state Rep. Mike Veon, who was convicted of using public money for political campaigning.

In court documents filed Tuesday in Dauphin County, the prosecutors say Veon was the leader of an effort to use illicit public bonuses to entice hundreds of state employees to work on campaigns.

Once the second-ranking Democrat in the state House, Veon was found guilty in March of multiple counts of conflict of interest, theft and conspiracy.

Sentencing is scheduled for Friday before Dauphin County Judge Richard A. Lewis.

Prosecutors also asked for 19 to 24 months imprisonment for Annamarie Perretta-Rosepink, who ran Veon’s district office in Beaver Falls.
