Misconduct charge dropped against Youngstown woman

YOUNGSTOWN — A charge of misconduct at an emergency, which police lodged against the wife of a paraplegic in a Feb. 27 altercation, has been dismissed in municipal court.

At the request of the prosecution, Judge Robert Milich dismissed the charge against Pamela Daniel, 37, of High Street, on Tuesday.

The charge stemmed from the incident, in which her husband, Willie Daniel, 36, complained he was dragged out of an SUV, punched by a police officer and left lying face down in the snow on Wilson Avenue after the SUV crashed into a fence.

Last week, after an internal affairs investigation, police Chief Jimmy Hughes fired Officer Robert Jolliff, alleged to have been the assailant, and Officer Jay Fletcher, who allegedly neglected his duty at the scene.

Willie Daniel’s jury trial on charges of driving under license suspension and reckless operation is set for 9 a.m. Aug. 16 before Judge Robert Douglas.
