Two area triathletes were winners in the Champ Racing Ohio Triathlon Series 2010 Kickoff held on Sunday at Clay’s Park Resort near Canal Fulton.

Amanda Frost, 31, of Columbiana defended her title as the top female finisher, and Caitlin Rae Glenn, 21, of Lisbon finished first in the 18-24 age group.

Frost finished the race, which consisted of a 500-meter swim, a 13-mile bike ride, and a 3.1-mile run, in 1:09:50.2, more than six minutes ahead of the second-place female. Glenn, who finished ahead of all others in her age group and eighth overall among the women, registered a time of 1:24:30.7.

The event, which had 166 entrants, is the first of a series of five triathlons scheduled to be held this summer at sites throughout Northern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania. Frost was the overall winner of the series in 2009.

Glenn said she planned to compete in the next race in the Champs Series on June 27th in Akron. Frost will not be participating in the event because she is getting married that weekend.
