Delphi retirees plan meetings

The Delphi Salaried Retirees Association has scheduled meetings for current and former salaried employees of Delphi Corp. The meetings are designed for those salaried workers who have not yet elected to receive pension benefits from the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. Delphi salaried retirees saw their pensions cut by 30 percent to 70 percent when their plans were turned over to the PBGC during the federal government’s restructuring of General Motors last year.

The association will give 90-minute presentations about the organization and its legal proceedings against the PBGC. The scheduled meetings will take place at 4:30 p.m. Monday, next Wednesday, June 28 and 30 at the Warren SCOPE Center, 220 W. House panel honors Wallace & Pancher

Wallace & Pancher, an environmental-engineering and construction firm, recently was recognized as a “Hero of Small Business” by the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Small Business. The company, which was founded in 2001, has 80 employees at three locations. Its revenues rose 32 percent in 2008 and 53 percent in 2009. The firm was recognized for weathering the recession, creating jobs and contributing to the country’s economic recovery.

FDA to disclose more info on drugs

WASHINGTON

Doctors and patients will be able to get more up-to-date information about the risks of the latest drugs as federal health regulators begin posting summarized safety reviews online.

Under a new policy, the Food and Drug Administration said Tuesday it would begin publishing summaries of potential safety issues with recently approved drugs.
