Thieves carjack priest, take his keys, wallet

youngstown

The Rev. Kenneth Miller of St. Luke Church in Boardman told police his vehicle was taken at gunpoint. Father Miller’s wallet and keys also were reported stolen.

Father Miller, 63, said that after leaving a restaurant downtown at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, he noticed a vehicle on the side of the road at Market Street and Kenmore Avenue.

Father Miller told police a man in his mid-20s and a male teen, about 14, waved him down and called for help.

The priest said he pulled up next to the vehicle, and the teen pulled out a gun and ordered Father Miller to pull off Market. He complied, and the men ordered him to get out of the vehicle and demanded his wallet. The teen then got into Father Miller’s car, and both vehicles left the scene.

Mother, daughter injured in crash

Mecca

A Farmdale woman and her 1-year-old daughter were injured after the vehicle they were in veered off the road and rolled over.

Stephanie A. Battison, 28, was driving her Ford Taurus about 5:45 a.m. Monday on Hoagland-Blackstub Road when she drifted off the right side, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Warren.

Battison steered hard to the right, causing the vehicle to strike an embankment and utility pole before rolling over. She was ejected from the car.

Battison was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. Her condition was unavailable Monday night.

Her daughter, Charlie Hacker, received minor injuries, and police said her car seat reduced the potential for serious injury.
