Police say murder suspect escaped from prison

GLEN MILLS, Pa. (AP) — A manhunt is under way for a murder suspect who escaped from a prison in the Philadelphia suburbs.

Authorities say it happened before midnight at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility in Glen Mills, Delaware County.

They say 21-year-old Taaqi Brown jumped into an SUV believed driven by a girlfriend and took off.

Authorities say there was apparently a paperwork mix-up at the prison and the suspect was freed.

Police believe Brown, who formerly lived in West Philadelphia, was headed for the Philadelphia area.

Brown was awaiting trial for the May 2009 shooting death of 19-year-old Aaron Kearney in Upper Darby. Investigators believe the killing was drug related.
