Poland's Gabriel named to USA National Team

POLAND — Poland High sophomore Erin Gabriel has been selected to the 2010-11 USA Softball Junior Women’s National Team, the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of America announced today.

The 17 athletes selected hail from seven states: Arizona, California, Florida, Ohio, Oregon, Maryland and New Mexico.

Last weekend, Gabriel attended a tryout camp with 41 other hopefuls at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif.

“It’s been a dream of mine to wear USA on my jersey,” said Gabriel who was 21-1 this season with the Bulldogs and Gatorade’s Ohio player of the year.

Gabriel’s first tournament with Team USA will be in August in Bogota, Colombia.
