Gospel concerts to benefit kidney fund, military

Proceeds from three gospel concerts this summer at Bridge of Hope Church, 7580 Glenwood Ave., will benefit the Joanne Bruno George Kidney Fund and Operation Home Front.
The first concert is Thursday,
George, 57, of Canfield has been in end-stage renal failure for three years and is on full dialysis. Her kidneys were destroyed by disease.
Operation Home Front is a national nonprofit organization that provides emergency assistance for military troops, the families they leave behind and wounded warriors when they return home.
Good Music Revival Productions and Donnie Abraham are presenting The Greatest Legends of Gospel Music benefit concerts at the church.
Thursday’s concert features the Classic Imperials. The Stamps Quartet will be here July 17, and the Blackwood Brothers will perform Aug. 14.
George is married to chef Ron George and has four sons, Donnie Prozy of Stow; twins Mike and Mitch Prozy, both of Gahanna, Ohio; and Ronnie George, a sophomore at Canfield High School. She was an employee of the Mahoning County Child Support Agency for 18 years and an auxiliary deputy for the Mahoning Sheriff’s Department before retiring in 2007. George graduated from Boardman High School in 1972 and attended Youngstown State and Kent State universities.
The proceeds from the fundraisers will help toward George’s current and future medical bills and prescriptions associated with a kidney dialysis and transplant.
Tickets for each concert are $20; $35 for two concerts, and $50 for all three performances. The doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. The concerts include opening area acts.

Checks should be made payable to Good Music Revival Productions. Profits will be divided 50-50 between George and Operation Home Front, Abraham said.
