Man drowns while trying to swim across pond

POWELL, Ohio

Authorities say a 26-year-old man has drowned after trying to swim across a pond in a Columbus suburb.

Delaware County Sheriff Walter L. Davis III says divers recovered the body of Mushfiq Hasan from the pond in Powell after searching for several hours Sunday morning. Hasan’s hometown wasn’t released.

Authorities responded to a 911 call about 3 a.m. Davis says Hasan was with three friends when he went into the water and tried to swim across the pond.
