Former Class B standouts earn college baseball honors

A trio of former Class B League players earned honors in college baseball this season.

Matt Pitzulo (Poland), was named second-team All-Mid-American Conference.

He finished his freshman season at Bowling Green hitting .367 overall in 42 games. He started 34 games — nine at second base, two at shortstop and 23 as designated hitter. He finished 2010 with three home runs, 23 RBIs and tied for the team lead with 12 doubles.

Sophomore Drew Turocy (Canfield) had 95 hits for Akron, breaking the school’s single-season record. Steve Sada held the old mark of 94.

Eddie Rohan (Ursuline) batted .307 and led Winthrop with 13 home runs. He tied for the team lead with 40 RBIs. Rohan has led the Eagles in home runs for three seasons. Rohan achieved a career milestone in 2010 as he eclipsed 40 career home runs and is only the 10th player in Big South Conference history to accomplish that feat.

He ranks fourth in Winthrop history in career home runs with 40.
