The Ohio State Highway Patrol said one person was killed in a one-vehicle motorcycle accident at King Graves Road and Celestial Drive in the township shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday.
No details on the crash nor the victim’s identity were available late Saturday night.
Cyclist killed in crash

A man was struck and killed when his motorcycle ran into a car on South Avenue on Saturday evening. According to a broadcast report, the cyclist was traveling south at a high rate of speed on South Avenue near 7 p.m. when he collided with a car pulling out from a movie theater parking lot. His name was not released. No other details were available late Saturday night.
Festival set to mark summer solstice
YOUNGSTOWN
There will be a Taino Summer Solstice and Puerto Rican Food Fest from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Organizacion Civica y Cultural Hispana Americana Hall, 3660 Shirley Road.
The Taino celebration of the solstice signifies that half the year has passed. The solstice is celebrated in June and December.
Miguel Sague will officiate at the solstice ceremony. The activities will include specific ceremonies honoring nature, Earth, and the creator of the universe. There will be Taino dancers from New York and Philadelphia.
Puerto Rican cuisine, including red rice with pigeon peas, pork, meat turnovers and other delicacies will be sold at the hall.
Community carnival
west middlesex, pa.
The Presbyterian Church of West Middlesex, 3082 Main St., will sponsor a community carnival from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday. Food, games, clowns, prizes, cake walk, a dunking booth and sack races will be featured. Five tickets cost a quarter.
Artists sought for show
GREENVILLE, Pa.
The 2010 Greenville Heritage Day committee is seeking Greenville-area artists for a Heritage Day Art Show on July 3 at the Recreation Center, 45 Alan Ave., and other downtown locations.

Camp for kids

Salvation Army will send 25 children age 6 to 12 to camp this summer. The children will go to Camp NEOSA near Carrollton for five days, July 22 through 27. The camp is free for each child and involves fishing, canoeing, activities and fun. There are 25 camper spots available, so ask for your application as soon as possible. Enrollment reopened
LISBON
Due to grade-level openings, the Beaver School District will reopen the open-enrollment process for grades kindergarten, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth for the fall. Applications may be picked up at the board office, 13093 State Route 7, between 9 and 11 a.m. and 1 and 2:30 p.m. on weekdays through Wednesday. Completed applications must be returned to the office by 2 p.m. June 23.
Students honored
CORTLAND
Five Trumbull County students were honored for their entries in the Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District conservation essay contest. The theme was “Conservation Habits Equals Healthy Habits.”
First place in the middle school division was Sarah Clark, eighth-grader at Reed Middle School in Hubbard. She received a $75 prize. In second place was Saahirah Cua of Bristol Middle School, who won $50.
Kaleb Yoho, a senior at LaBrae High School, won first place in the high school division. Trey Yoho and Josh Johns, also seniors at LaBrae, were awarded second and third place, respectively.
