Steelers sign draft picks from OSU

PITTSBURGH

Former Ohio State teammates Thaddeus Gibson and Doug Worthington have become the first two Pittsburgh Steelers draft picks to reach contract terms.

Gibson, an outside linebacker and a fourth-round pick, and Worthington, a defensive end who was a seventh-round pick, each signed three-year contracts.

The Steelers are converting Gibson from defensive end to linebacker.

Texans

HOUSTON

Tight end Owen Daniels signed his restricted free agent tender.

The 6-foot-3, 245-pound Daniels sat out the team’s organized team activities as he continues to recover from knee surgery. Daniels tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the eighth game last season.

Redskins

ASHBURN, Va.

The team announced that it has signed fullback-tight end Dennis Morris and offensive linemen Selvish Capers and Erik Cook.

Morris is a sixth-round selection from Louisiana Tech. Cook is a seventh-round pick from New Mexico. Capers was also taken in the seventh round, out of West Virginia.

Chargers

SAN DIEGO

Free agent wide receiver Josh Reed was signed to a one-year contract. Pro Bowl wide receiver Vincent Jackson is one of three Chargers players who are so unhappy about being tendered one-year contracts as restricted free agents that they have stayed away from offseason workouts, including minicamp.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo.

Linebacker Elvis Dumervil has until Monday to sign his restricted free agent tender or face losing money.
