A Lisbon man was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired and assured clear distance after a four-car accident at 6:35 p.m. Thursday on Mahoning Avenue at Raccoon Road.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol in Canfield said Jason Black, 28, of Lisbon- Dungannon Road, failed to stop in traffic and hit a car stopped in front of him. That car hit the car in front of it, which hit the car in front of it, police said.

No one was seriously injured, police said.

Theft at golf course

Police are investigating the theft of an envelope containing $111 in cash and credit-card receipts from the city’s Henry J. Stambaugh Golf Course on Gypsy Lane.

Police said a cashier discovered the envelope was missing when reporting for work about 9 a.m. Monday. It was taken from the cashier’s window area.

Motorcycle run

Motorcyclists from Greenford Christian Church will conduct the second annual Teddy Bear Motorcycle Run for Akron Children’s Hospital Beeghly Campus - Building D, 6505 Market St., at 9:45 a.m. Sunday.

The church has collected about 500 stuffed animals that will be delivered. New stuffed animals are always needed for children admitted to the hospital or treated in the emergency room.

The Youngstown Campus of National College, 3487 Belmont Ave., will host a military and veterans open house at 2 and 4 p.m. Tuesday. Sessions are for active or reserve military, veterans, their spouses and dependents.

The event will feature experts in veterans benefits, financial aid and educational programs to provide information on eligibility and benefits to active-duty, reserve or honorably discharged veterans. Information also will be available on obtaining college credit for military training and experience through the Servicemembers Opportunity College Consortium.

Motorist charged

Township police arrested William Chislom, 29, of Saranac Avenue, Youngstown, and charged him with driving under suspension, speeding and not wearing a seat belt after a traffic stop on Frederick Drive.

His passenger, Machelle D. Sydney, 29, of the 200 block of Alameda in Youngstown, was charged with possession of drugs after suspected heroin was found on her during the Thursday evening stop. She was turned over to Boardman police on outstanding warrants, but the police report did not list what the warrants were for.

Specialty tools stolen

Police said burglars stole a box of specialty tools from a contractor at the new Girard High School, which is under construction at 1244 Shannon Road.

The box, which had been on the gym floor, weighed about 400 pounds. A check revealed access was gained through a rear door at the west side of the building. The theft was discovered Thursday morning.

Police have been conducting periodic checks at the construction site.

Earlier on Thursday, police found a window open on the south side of the building that had been closed on a previous check.

Copper thefts at the construction site occurred during the first week of June.
