Jennifer Houston, art teacher at Watson Elementary School in Austintown, entered two of her students in an art show that will be appearing at Youngstown State University during the Summer Festival of the Arts.
The Steel Valley Art Teachers Association provided two canvases and asked the students use them to create an artwork of their choice. Second-grader Zoe Figinsky painted the beach at sunset and kindergartner Aiden Clark painted a picture of a garden. The students put in extra time during the school day to finish these paintings.
The artwork will be displayed in the Bliss Hall Gallery at YSU. The show opens July 10 at noon. Students will receive certificates and be treated to refreshments.
The artwork will be displayed until July 26.
The show will be sponsored by the Steel Valley Art Teachers Association.
