Tolich, Lawrence earn Federal League honors
Two Fitch track and field athletes received Federal League Athlete of the Year honors.
For the girls team, junior thrower Ali Tolich won the award after winning the shot put in 41-31/2 and the discus with a school record-tying throw of 160-2 at the league championship meet May 14 at Uniontown Lake High School.
Te’John Lawrence, a senior sprinter on the boys team, received honors after winning the 100 meters in 10.91, the 200 in 22.19 and anchoring the first place and school record-breaking 4x200 relay team.
Two other Falcons took home first place finishes. George Thomas won the shot put in 53-81/2 and the discus with a Federal League meet record throw of 177-2. Jen Shiley won the 300 hurdles in 45.52. The girls team placed third overall, while the boys finished fourth.
