Fitch senior earns full ride to Ohio State
Neighbors | Shaiyla Hakeem .Senior Eric Crawford received the Robert C. Byrd Scholarship and the Ohio State Maximus Scholarship which pays full in-state tuition. He will be attending Ohio State this fall.
Fitch High School senior Eric Crawford is the recipient of the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship and Ohio State University’s Medalist Scholarship.
To be considered for the Medalist Scholarship, students must rank in the top 3 percent of their class. Those chosen for the Robert C. Byrd Honor Scholarship are nominated by the school principal or guidance counselor.
Crawford will be attending college full time tuition-free.
“I really appreciate the scholarships and I feel very lucky,” he said.
Crawford kept busy at Fitch by being an active participant in the Interact Club, Spanish Club, National Honors Society, Reading-Discussion-Enrichment group and Student Council.
He will be attending Ohio State in the fall, but is unsure of his major. Crawford said he comes from a family of researchers, so he said he will probably study something in that field.
Despite how sad he is to leave his hometown, he is ready to trade his high school life for the life of a college student.
“I’m looking forward to attending college,” Crawford said.
