Carnival season gets under way in Valley

It’s that time of year again.

A carousel, rock climbing wall and games galore are all a part of this year’s Bates Brothers Carnival. Located in the parking lot of the Southern Park Mall, the carnival’s games, rides and food attracted crowds.

Carnival goers battled the heat, humidity and rain to enjoy the various attractions. Boardman resident Sheryl Cooper said she attends several carnivals a year. Her grandchildren enjoy the rides and she enjoys the food. This was the first festival of the summer, but it will not be her last.

“I love this time of year,” Cooper said. “Funnel cakes and elephant ears from carnivals are always the best!”
