The jazz bands at Boardman High School performed June 4 to an almost sold-out crowd.
Jazz I started it off with “Your the Boss” arranged by John Wasson. This song featured senior Matt Simari on tenor sax and sophomore Zach Stover on trumpet.
Jazz III followed with its performance. Jazz III is an after-school band for students who don’t have time in their regular school schedule for band, so they meet two times a week after school.
Jazz II played five songs for the audience.
The night ended with Jazz I playing “Georgia on my Mind” by Hoagie Carmichael and arranged by Jerry Nowak and featured senior Jamie Massaro on the alto sax.
The last song was “Hey Big Spender” by Coleman/Fields and arranged by Tom Ruggieri and featured junior Katelyn DeLadurantey on vocal.
This song was well received at the B.B. King House of Blues in New York City several weeks ago. Jazz I was invited to play there and received positive reviews.
