The Youngstown Business Incubator has appointed Cynthia Anderson, Youngstown State University’s president-designate, to its board of directors, the incubator announced.
Anderson will become YSU’s seventh president when David Sweet retires June 30.
As a board member Anderson will help drive collaborative efforts between the incubator and the university, Garry Mrozek, chairman of the incubator’s board of directors, said in a news statement Wednesday.
“[The incubator] and YSU have developed several innovative entrepreneurial initiatives that are catalyzing technology-driven economic development in the Mahoning Valley, and we look forward to future collaborations,” he said.
Anderson added that she hopes to build on the incubator’s success to help Youngstown and YSU become a nationally recognized center for high-tech development and innovation.
Anderson has said she plans to pursue a state plan that requires universities to be driving forces in local and regional economic development.
