Astro, Roth win in ‘B’ challenge
STAFF REPORT
Kyle Allen and Kolin Stanley pitched Astro Falcons past J&A Baseball, 7-6, in the Youngstown-Cleveland Challenge at Cene Park on Sunday.
The games were a series between Class B League teams and their counterparts from the Cleveland Diamond League.
Allen picked up the victory, allowing five runs (two earned) on seven hits. He struck out four. Stanley pitched an inning for the save. Ryan Trimbur hit a three-run double for Astro.
Roth Brothers 1, Northern Ohio Hurricanes 0
Tyler Kernan picked up the victory for Roth, only giving up two hits and two walks while striking out six. Matt Palo pitched the final two innings for the save. Anthony O’Nesti had a hit and scored the run.
J&A Baseball 2, 1080 Media 0
James Coates had two hits for 1080 Media, while Adam Robb was the tough-luck loser, pitching five innings and only allowing one run on four hits. He struck out six.
Brownlee Lookouts 5, Action Physical Therapy 0
Cody Kirk, Zach Palumbo and Tim Schiraldi each had a hit to lead Action.
North Coast 9, Youngstown Express 3
Carmen Tarantino and Tyler Walls each had two hits while Mark Calautti and Dan Dougherty each contributed a hit and RBI for Express.
Northern Ohio Hurricanes 2, Youngstown Express 0
John Fithian went the distance for Express, giving up two runs while surrendering six hits and while striking out six. Fithian and Dave DiBernardi each supplied a hit for Express.
Ohio Thunder 8, 1080 Media 7
Ohio Thunder scored four runs in the seventh inning. Joe Aulizia had two hits while Brock Bogan had two hits and drove in two runs for 1080.
Boys of Summer 6, Roth Brothers 5
Matt Harmon had a double and two RBIs while Matt Palo, Jim Gora, and Rocco Amondola each contributed a run and an RBI for Roth.
Ohio Thunder 6, Dave Sugar Excavating 2
Jordan Izzo had a triple and RBI, and he scored a run, to lead Dave Sugar, while John Korpon had a hit and RBI.

YOUNGSTOWN
The Canton Terriers scored two runs in the fourth and another in the fifth before the Ohio Glaciers got on the board at Pemberton-Donnell Park in a 5-1 win by the Terriers.
Brett Dounonkos and Greg Travis doubled for Canton, while Armani Johnson, Mickey Caberga, Dane Dobson and Jake Kucek had the only four hits for Glaciers.
