Future bleak in besieged Gaza

Once again, with its custom- ary cruelty and characteristic arrogance Israel has dared the world to put a stop to its wanton destruction. And once again the Obama administration has responded by “looking at its shoelaces.” As for the Senate and Congress, they are all wearing golden handcuffs that prevent them from even questioning the diabolical actions of Israel. They will keep themselves occupied until this all blows over. The American media, of course, has been conditioned to ignore and suppress attention from Israeli massacres, lest they incur the dreaded “anti-Semitism” curse which can destroy careers.

As for the people of Gaza they must hold their breath because when they exhale there won’t be anything left for them to inhale again. Israel has stolen everything, from their dignity to their lives, from food and fuel to freedom and safety, and even hope is in short supply.

When Rachel Corrie was wantonly murdered by the state of Israel a few years ago I said that the “conscience of the Jewish people was crushed to death under an Israeli bulldozer,” but I was only partly right for she was also the conscience of all Americans, and more important, a fellow human being.

Was this the last hope of the people of Gaza? Their situation grows more desperate by the hour. Only international intervention backed up by force can save them now. Their future looks bleak and evil has claimed a new victory over innocence and humanitarianism.
