Good Hope Lutheran, 98 Homestead Drive, will host its eighth annual block party next Sunday on the church grounds.

The event will begin with an outdoor worship service at 10 a.m. There will be a potluck lunch, games, music and talent show.

New citizens

Eight people became U.S. citizens in a naturalization ceremony last week conducted by Judge Mark A. Belinky of Mahoning County Probate Court. Their names, hometowns and countries of origin are: Pearl Romaldina Price, Boardman, Tanzania; Maria De La Cadena, Campbell, Colombia; Florin Emilian Ciuhulescu, Youngstown, Romania; Waqas Munawar Chaudhry, Boardman, Pakistan; Victor Alberto Arcenio Escudero, Canfield, Peru; Elena Ionese, Columbiana, Romania; Divya Reddy Nallapuram, Youngstown, India; and Mahmoud Abdel Monem Abdel Fayed, Austintown, Egypt.

Seminar planned

Dr. Thomas Groner of Ankle & Foot Care Centers will speak on diabetic neuropathy at a seminar scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday at Copeland Oaks, 800 S. 15th St. The seminar is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. Dr. Groner is a podiatric physician and an associate of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons. Diabetic neuropathy is a condition that starts with numbness or tingling in the feet and often progresses to a total loss of feeling. It is the leading cause of foot ulcers and foot and toe amputations.

Fellows Riverside Gardens-Mill Creek MetroParks will present “Nature Illuminated” June 18-Aug. 22 in the Weller Gallery.

Ellen Hoverkamp began using her flatbed scanner as a camera in 1997 to document nature’s beauty. Using floral cuttings, vegetables, nests, eggs and other objects of nature, she has produced a body of work consisting of more than 600 images. She is a middle-school graphic-arts teacher in West Haven, Conn.
