Third-graders prepare for Frank Ohl
Third-graders were overwhelmed with excitement as they took one step closer to becoming a middle-schooler.
Watson Elementary held its annual Third-Grade Recognition Night May 19 celebrating the student’s upcoming transition to Frank Ohl Intermediate School.
This Austintown tradition has been going on for more than 15 years. It began with the PTA hosting a spaghetti dinner for students and parents, but has grown to be a night of family fun.
The evening began with a performance from entertainer Mike Bishop.
He humored the audience of students and family members with his magic trick and jokes.
Bishop has been practicing magic since he was 8 and was named as Ohio’s youngest magician when he was 12.
He used volunteers, third-graders and adults, to help with some of his magic acts.
Following the magic and comedy show, each student was individually called on stage to receive a certificate and Watson banner.
Refreshments were served after the recognition ceremony.
