STATE TRACK | Valley captures four state titles on first day


Four Mahoning Valley girls won titles on the first day of the Ohio state track and field meet Friday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus.

Poland senior Allison Rice captured the discus crown in Division II. In Division II, Springfield senior Andria Lyons won the long jump, Maplewood junior Jordan Moxley won the high jump and McDonald senior Joh'Vonnie Mosley claimed the discus title and finished second in the shot put.

McDonald junior Matthias Tayala (discus) and Maplewood's boys 4x800 relay both finished second in their events, as did Southeast senior Brooke Lamar (discus).
