STATE TRACK| Poland senior Allison Rice wins state discus title

Poland senior Allison Rice won a Division II state discus title at Friday's meet at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus.

Rice threw a personal-best 128 feet, 10 inches to edge Southeast senior Brooke Lamar by just four inches for the title.

In other Division II field event finals, LaBrae junior Andre Elkins placed eighth in the long jump, Southeast junior Damian Pennington was 11th and Beaver Local junior Zach Bangor was 15th.

LaBrae senior Steve Woodyard placed 10th in the shot put and Mooney senior Eric Vendemia was 13th.

There were no area competitors in the girls high jump and boys pole vault, which were the only other Division II field event finals Friday.
