Police arrest suspect in burglary

Police responding to an alarm at Gina’s Food market at 1942 Glenwood Ave. said they caught a burglar as he tried to leave the building.

The first officer on the scene about 2 a.m. Thursday, was accompanied by a police dog.

He said he discovered a hole in the rear wall and spotted a man later identified as Arnold Gillam Sr., 46, of McGuffey Road, trying to crawl out of the hole.

Another man fled the scene while Gillam was being arrested, police said.

Gillam was charged with breaking and entering and possession of criminal tools and taken to Mahoning County jail to await arraignment.
