The contest is broken into two categories, first through third grade and fourth through fifth grade.
Western Reserve Fire Prevention Officer Bill O’Hara made a special appearance to present Wern and Barrett with certificates and backpacks during a morning assembly for their accomplishment.
Barrett said he learned about safety and how to put out a fire. He was impressed by the ride to school.
“It was very fun and exciting,” Barrett said.
Wern liked the fact that the truck was so big.
“I learned that you have to sit backward in the fire truck,” he said. “And I liked the loud horns.”
