Dave Sugar 3, Wharmby Sports 1

Timely hitting and strong pitching from John Korpon led Dave Sugar to the victory at Cene Park. In the second inning, Sugar took a 1-0 lead after Jordan Izzo singled. He moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and to third on an infield single. He scored on an error. Sugar added a run in the third on Andre Jones’ RBI single. Wharmby pulled within one after David Saluga singled and stole second then scored on a two-out single by Anthony Savko. G.J. Senchak had two doubles for Sugar while Saluga had two for Wharmby.

1080 Media 8, OTN 4

Matt Shelton helped his cause before he even threw the first pitch with a bases-clearing double in the top of the first inning. OTN got a double from Brent Messett and a single from Nate Fader. Both knocked in a run. A triple by OTN’s Austin Lykins scored Chris Cosentino. Chris Morgan had two hits for 1080 while Shelton drove in three and scored three. Fader led OTN with two hits.

Roth Bros. 6, Action 3

Roth Brothers used a pair of three run innings the second and the sixth to win. Nick Reinthaler scored the first run on a double by Rocco Amendola. Action came right back in the top of the third with three runs scored by four hits and walk. Tim Schiraldi had the key two-run hit scoring Cody Kirk and Tod Gasior. The game stayed tied until the sixth inning where a leadoff single by Matt Harmon, a quick steal of second and Tommy Quealy’s hit down the third-base line plated Harmon. In the top of the seventh, Action was down to its last out when Mike Werner doubled and Tod Gasior walked. JW Gora came in and struck out the final batter to earn his first save.
