YOUNGSTOWN

“Death Takes a Holiday” opens a three-weekend run Friday at The Victorian Players.

The play, which was made into a film in 1934, examines what happens when Death decides that he needs some time off. During his break he learns why people fear him, and also falls in love with a woman named Grazia. As things spiral out of control, Grazia’s father, Duke Lambert, discovers Death’s secret and implores him to return to his duties. Death must decide whether to seek his own happiness or sacrifice it so that Grazia may live.

Shawn Lockaton is directing the play, which is the final show of the season for The Victorian.

The cast includes Cleric Costes, Bernadette Lim, Gary Deckant, Audrey Allen, Zac Paull, Alisha Kopcsos, Anita Weinstock, Charles Orlager, Daniel Poppke, Suzanne Shorrab, Chuck Kettering, Daniel Temelkoff and Josie Puskar.

Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. An opening-night party at Cafe Cimmento, 120 E. Boardman St., will follow Friday’s performance and all ticketholders are invited.

For reservations for any performance, call 330-746-5455.
