Sisters are endurance participants

Sisters Marla and Gia Marucci, Canfield High School students, are among several endurance participants in this weekend’s American Cancer Society Austintown Relay for Life who have pledged to run or walk the entire 24-hour event with one 10-minute break per hour. The relay is from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Fitch High School stadium.

The sisters’ father was diagnosed with cancer in 2005, and friends invited them to join the Boardman Relay.

This year they were invited to participate in the Austintown Relay.

Marla and Gia say they hope their involvement in the endurance competition raises awareness of how cancer impacts the lives of everyone it touches.
