Karaoke contest will seek Voice of the Valley

A Voice of the Valley karaoke contest will begin at several area bars next week. It’s a 10-week contest, with the winner receiving $500.

The top two finishers will sing onstage at the Canfield Fair.

The contest is sponsored by Shooting Star Entertainment and Exclusive Productions, and it benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The schedule is as follows:

Sunday: Bill’s Place, Austintown, 10 p.m.-2 a.m.; Sammie G’s at the MetroPlex in Liberty, 8 p.m.-midnight; Penguins Ice Cream and Grill, Austintown, 3-7 p.m.

Monday: TGI Fridays, Boardman, 8 p.m.-midnight.

Tuesday: Sammie’s, Austintown, 9 p.m.-1 a.m.; Dash Inn, Youngstown, 9 p.m.-1 a.m.; JW’s, West Middlesex, Pa., 9 p.m.-1 a.m.

Wednesday: Minerva’s, Austintown, 9 p.m.-1 a.m.; Big D’s Irish Pub, Youngstown, 10 p.m.-2 a.m.; Salty Grog’s, Boardman, 9:30 p.m.-1:30 a.m.
