Cop pleads guilty to stalking

A part-time Lowellville police officer who is on leave from his job pleaded guilty to two counts of menacing by stalking.

One of the charges is a fourth-degree felony, and the other was reduced from that level to a first-degree misdemeanor.

Jeffrey A. Christy, 31, of Salt Springs Road, Niles, entered his plea Wednesday before Judge R. Scott Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, who will sentence him at 9 a.m. Aug. 5.

The first count pertains to a Beloit woman in 2008, and the second involves a Lake Milton woman between December 2008 and April 2009, with both crimes having occurred while Christy was a Milton Township reserve police officer.
