Columbiana baseball loses 1-0 in state semis

Newark Catholic defeated Columbiana 1-0 in Thursday's Division IV state baseball semifinal in Columbus.

The Green Wave scored the game's only run in the top of the fifth when Kevin Cox led off with a single, stole second and came home on a throwing error with two outs.

Clippers pitcher Hank Schlueter pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts and one walk.
