FOOD SALES AND DINNERS


WEDNESDAY

Southington United Methodist Church, routes 305 and 534, will have a chicken dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. The menu includes a quarter chicken, scalloped potatoes, green beans, applesauce, coleslaw and homemade desserts. Adult meals are $7.50; children 4-10 (with chicken tenders) are $4; and children 3 and under are free. Carryouts are available. To order, call 330-898-2156.

THURSDAY

Poland United Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman Poland Road, Poland, will have takeout dinners available from 3:30 p.m. until sold out. The cost is $6. No need to preorder or get out of the car. Just drive to the front of the church, and your meal of baked stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and green beans will be ready.

St. Michael Orthodox Church, 125 Steel St., Youngstown, will serve a homemade Chinese lunch and supper from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. every Thursday. This week’s meal will feature pork chops. Cost is $5. To order in advance call 330-799-8133 on Thursday.

Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, is selling takeout dinners of stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, green beans and brownie from 4 p.m. until sold out. Cost is $7, and patrons may drive through to pick up dinners. No reservation is needed.

FRIDAY

Canfield Lions will sponsor a fish dinner from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St., Canfield. Meals include baked or fried haddock, coleslaw, roll, beverage and dessert, with a choice of one side: french fries, macaroni and cheese, haluski, green beans or pirogi. The cost is $10. Takeouts are available.

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $5 a dozen. Orders should be placed from 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at 330-746-9528 and are to be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday. Advance sales only. Lunches will be available beginning at 11 a.m. Friday. This is the final sale of the season. Sales resume in September.

National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon, 2759 N. Lipkey Road, North Jackson, will be selling Brier Hill-style pizza every Friday. A 12-inch pizza will be $8. Orders may be called in before 5 p.m., and pickup will be from 3 to 6 p.m. For more information or to order, call 330-538-3351.

Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 8 to 11 Friday, based upon availability. Lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers and use the side entrance.

SUNDAY

Army-Navy Garrison 252, 230 N. Main St., Niles, will be the location for a spaghetti dinner from noon to 5 p.m. to benefit 7-year-old Cameron Shull, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at 9 months old. Proceeds will help enable him to attend therapy sessions. Dinners are $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. There also will be a 50-50 raffle, Chinese auction, disc jockey and cash bar. Poland Masonic Lodge 766 will sponsor its monthly Swiss steak dinner from noon until sold out. Meals will include mashed potatoes with gravy, salad, vegetables, rolls, dessert and beverages. Cost is $9 per person.

St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, will serve an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner sponsored by the Youth Group from noon to 4 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for youth; children under 5 are free.

A breakfast brunch at St. James the Apostle Church, Route 422 West, New Bedford, Pa., will be served from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the church social hall by the men’s group. The buffet will include strawberries, shortcake and ice cream, French toast with sweet cheese filling, buttermilk and buckwheat pancakes with fruit and maple syrup, sausage, bacon, home fries, ham, scrambled eggs, eggs with peppers, onions and cheese, toast, rolls, juice and coffee. TAKING ORDERS

Happy Hearts Junior Croatian Tamburitzans is having a summer strudel sale. Strudels are made of hand-pulled dough by the parents organization and are sold uncooked and frozen, ready to bake.
